Whether you want to make your own nut butter, or simply chop nuts, the best blenders for nuts will get the job done.
Before you can decide on a good blender for nuts, it’s helpful to know the difference between a blender and a food processor.
If you’re torn between the two kitchen appliances, don’t worry. I’ll show you a device that’s both a blender and a food processor.
Food Processor or Blender for Nuts?
If you’re looking for a good blender for chopping nuts, a food processor is often the better option.
It’s easy to confuse a blender with a food processor, as they share some similarities.
Blenders and food processors both have a motorized base and use rotating sharp blades.
Each appliance performs different tasks, though.
Food processors are great for chopping, slicing, shredding, pureeing, and grinding almost any food.
It’s also the best option for making mayonnaise, salad dressings, pesto, hummus, salsa, or grinding flour.
Blenders, on the other hand, are designed to pulverize ingredients. They’re great for making shakes or smoothies.
Blenders only come with one blade attachment.
Food processors sometimes come with different blades and cutting discs designed for a wide variety of kitchen tasks.
What About Nut Butter?
There are so many reasons to start making your own nut butter and milk.
It’s so much healthier and even tastes better!
You can control exactly what’s going in and how much sugar is added.
In the long run, it can even save you money. Store-bought almond or cashew butter is super expensive!
Blenders, not only make delicious smoothies, but some of them also make creamy nut butter or delicious nut milk.
Not all blenders are designed for this kind of job, though. It’s one of the most challenging tasks for any blender!
You’ll need plenty of blending power.
For making nut butter, a high-performance blender is the best choice.
Vitamix and Blendtec are the best blenders for making nut butter.
There’s a reason why juice bars and restaurants all over the world use these blenders.
A Vitamix is durable and the most powerful blender you can get your hands on.
If money is tight, a Ninja blender can be an affordable alternative. It might take a bit longer than a Vitamix, but the end result is almost the same.

2. Vitamix E310 – Great Blender for Nut Butter
When it comes to the best blenders for nuts, Vitamix has to be on the list. They’re the best blenders you can get your hands on.
Vitamix blenders are used by restaurants and juice bars all over the world. That’s for a good reason!
They are the strongest and most durable blenders available. The superman of blenders. They’re made in the US and come with extensive warranties.
If you’ve ever researched Vitamix blenders, you’ll know how expensive they can get. You can easily spend $500 or more on a Vitamix.
The E310 Explorian is their entry-level model.
It’s more affordable than other models, but it doesn’t mean it’s less powerful. Far from it!
Vitamix only uses two different-sized motors in all of their models. A 2 horsepower motor and a 2.2 horsepower motor.
The E310 uses the 2 hp motor. If you’d compare both motors side by side, you wouldn’t see much of a difference. The end result is the same. It creates creamy nut butter and silk-smooth smoothies.
With a Vitamix, you’ll never have to worry if your blender can do it or not.
This high-performance blender is so powerful that it makes hot soup (not warm, piping-hot!) out of cold ingredients!
You’ve heard that right.
On the highest setting, it can heat up ingredients with just the friction of the blades. It takes less than 10 minutes!
Add a few veggies and spices to the jar, let it run for a few minutes, and you can walk away while this blender creates healthy, steaming-hot soup for you.
It stands out of the question that a blender this powerful can make perfect nut butter as well.
If you’re only going to chop or grind nuts, a Vitamix is an overkill. You’re better off with a simple food processor.
A Vitamix is only worth the price if you’re using it regularly for a wide variety of tasks like:
- homemade soups
- silk-smooth smoothies
- DIY nut flours
- thick dips
- sticky dough
- chunky nut butter
- nut milk
- perfect sauces and dressings
- baby food
- frozen desserts and drinks
The list doesn’t end here.
If this entry-level Vitamix is as powerful as the more expensive models, why is anyone paying more for a Vitamix?
The more expensive models come with presets and fancy LED displays. The most expensive ones even have Bluetooth that lets you connect the blender to your smartphone.
The Vitamix E310 comes with a low-profile 48 oz container. That’s great because it fits under most kitchen cabinets. But it is too small for making larger batches.
Most of the expensive models have 64 oz jars. You can buy larger (and smaller) jars for your E310, but they’re expensive. An additional jar can easily cost you $100 or more.
The E310 comes with a 5-year warranty. The more expensive models come with 7-year and even 10-year warranties.
If you like the low-profile container and don’t need fancy presets, the Vitamix E310 is a great choice. It’s as durable and powerful as the more expensive models.
- The most affordable Vitamix out there
- Strong 2 horsepower motor
- So powerful it heats your soup

General Opinion: Comparing the Vitamix to other blenders is like comparing a Ferrari to a rusty, old car. If a blender is powerful enough to make hot soup with the friction of the blades, you’ll never have to ask will it blend. Yes, it will blend. Creamy soups, sticky dough, perfect smoothies, chunky nut butter… the possibilities are endless.

4. Blendtec Classic 575 – Vitamix Alternative
My review of the best blenders for nuts wouldn’t be complete without a Blendtec blender. Blendtec is right on par with Vitamix when it comes to performance. It’s a great blender for making nut butter.
The Blendtec Classic 575 is an entry-level model. It has all the power you’ll ever need for any blending task.
The main difference between Vitamix and Blendtec blenders:
- Blendtec blenders don’t need a tamper
- Blendtec uses dull blades
- You’ll have to stack ingredients in the right order with a Blendtec
The blades and jar are so designed that they create a powerful vortex.. that is as long as you stack ingredients in the right order. There’s a booklet on how to stack ingredients is included with this blender.
You won’t ever need to use a tamper again. It also means you won’t need to precut ingredients. You can add whole fruits and it’ll will blend.
This Blendtec is as powerful as a Vitamix. It can make steaming hot soup just with the friction of the blades.

This model comes with 5 manual speeds and a pulse function. You’ll also get 4 presets, including a self-cleaning function.
Just add some warm water and a drop of dish soap, press one button, and this blender cleans itself while you can walk away!
The 90 oz WildSide+ jar is big, but unfortunately, it only has 36 oz of blending capacity. I wish it had some more. It’s large enough for 4-6 people, though.
Just like the Vitamix, the Blendtec is made in the US. It comes with an impressive 8-year warranty.
- Made in the USA
- Unique jar design creates a powerful vortex
- A recipe book is included
- No more cuts and pokes with the dull blades

- Blending capacity of only 36 oz
General Opinion: Here’s another great blender for making nut butter. It’s as powerful as a Vitamix. It comes with four presets and a nice LED display. If you learn to stack ingredients in the right order, it’ll create a powerful vortex and sucks ingredients right into the blades. You’ll never have to use a tamper again and won’t need to precut produce.
5. Vitamix 5200 – Classic Vitamix Blender

It features a powerful 2 hp motor and comes with a classic 10-speed dial. There aren’t any fancy presets.
