With so many processed juices on store shelves these days, it’s nearly impossible to get truly fresh, healthy fruit and vegetable juices without preservatives, colors, sugar, and added ingredients. We all know that store-bought juice has been processed and tainted with chemicals, bacteria, and unknown substances. But we also know that drinking fresh, nutrient-rich juice is a surefire way to boost energy, refuel your body, and give your tummy an easy to digest blast of everything good that Mother Nature has to offer. So, how do we get awesome, fresh juice if we can’t touch the sludge that’s sold in stores?
A good cold press juicer might be just what you’ve been looking for. By making your own fresh juices at home or on the go, you can be sure you’re avoiding all those chemicals, additives, and questionable handling practices while enjoying some of the best juice you’ll ever drink. There are a ton of slow juicers on the market though, so the research process can be daunting and intimidating.
But don’t worry. Once again, VibrantHappyHealthy.com has you covered!
Check out this list of the best cold press juicers and get started on your healthy juicing journey with confidence! We’ve tested, re-tested, and tested some more, interviewed owners, read reviews, and dug deep into the spec sheets for all of the juicers on this list. We’ve done all the hard work for you—all you need to do is select which one fits your needs and your budget!
What is a cold press juicer?
There is a lot of misinformation on the internet about juicing, so I wanted to give a quick explanation of what a cold press juicer is before we dive into the list of the best cold press juicers. As always, our site lists facts and uses verifiable information, but if we’re giving an opinion, we’ll state as much. That way you know you can trust what we’re saying. As always, feel free to ask questions if you need more information—we’re here to help you get and stay healthy and happy.
So, what is a cold press juicer exactly? Despite what some sites want you to believe, the answer is not that complex. It’s actually very simple. A cold press juicer is a machine that squeezes, mashes, or grinds ingredients and then presses the pulp really hard to squeeze out the juice. They are sometimes called slow juicers or masticating juicers because they kind of “chew” the food before squeezing the juices out.
All juicers remove the fibrous parts of plant matter in a little clump that you can throw out, compost, or do what I do and feed it to your chickens. You’re left with amazingly fresh juice. But cold press juicing is better, in my opinion. Here’s why.
Slow press juicers work without the use of any kind of heat. Heat can destroy delicate nutrients and enzymes or change the texture and flavor of ingredients. By juicing in a cold press juicer, you are leaving as much of the good stuff intact as possible while removing some parts you may not want or need in your diet.
In comparison, centrifugal juicers use a fast-spinning blade and mesh screen to chew the heck out of ingredients at eye-watering speeds. While this will get the job done a lot faster, those lightning fast blades create heat. Even a small amount of heat can damage the nutrients and enzymes in some juices. The heat from the blades also has the nasty habit of oxidizing your juice, making it taste different than it should and shortening its shelf life.
Why should I get a good cold press juicer?
Aren’t we supposed to eat more fruits and veggies? Yes! The more fruits and vegetables you eat, the better your body and mind will feel. However, some people don’t like the taste of veggies, and still others may not need as much fiber as they’d end up consuming if they ate all those fruits and veggies raw. While fiber is essential for all bodies, some people simply do not need as much as others. Too much fiber can cause a variety of gastric issues, including upset stomach, diarrhea, and sometimes even constipation.
Yes, you need fiber, but if eating so many fruits and veggies hurts your tummy or makes your bathroom trips a nightmare, you have another way to get your important nutrients. Just juice those fruits and veggies in a cold press juicer!
You’ll get all the nutrients of the ingredients without the extra fiber and without damaging any of them with the heat of a centrifugal juicer. It’s a win-win situation. Just remember that you need some fiber in your diet, so don’t skip other good sources while you juice. You’ll need to figure out the right balance for you, but that’s pretty easy to do. If you feel awesome while juicing and your bathroom trips are pain-free and easy, you’ve found the right balance! If things don’t feel quite right, make some adjustments until you find the sweet spot for you. And, of course, always talk to your doctor for the best diet changes for your specific needs.
The Best Cold Press Juicers for Every Budget
Since we know that money can be a roadblock preventing some people from starting juicing, we’ve done our best to include the best cold press juicers from the lower cost side up through the high-end machines. They will all get the job done and leave you with tasty and healthy juice, but each model will have its own pros and cons. Some even have cool additional features or unique designs. Even so, if juicing is your main concern, choosing something from the affordable list will be perfectly fine if you don’t want to drop a bundle of cash on the top-tier stuff right away. You can always upgrade later if you want. Please choose your desired type of juicer:
Best Affordable Cold Press Juicers
Just because something is affordable, it doesn’t mean it’s going to suck. All the cold press juicers on this list have been tried, tested, and thoroughly reviewed to be sure you’re still getting your money’s worth. These low-cost masticating juicers are as good for your bank account as they are for your health.
1. Aicok Cold Press Juicer | Best Choice
The Aicok Slow Masticating Juicer sits firmly at the top of our best slow press juicer list for many reasons. First, it promises up to 90% more nutrition extracted into your juices compared to other juicers. Based on our own experiences, it’s a promise they kept. We felt more energized and healthier after using this particular juicer, and the fibrous clump was dense and dry—meaning it was pressed very well until nearly every drop of juice was extracted from the pulp. That’s pretty impressive for a lower cost cold press juicer! It performs even as well as some of the cold press juicers that cost twice and three times as much. See it for yourself; Aicok slow juicer vs. the Omega 8006:
They claim their 90% more nutrients come from their unique 7 segment spiral system. This works by opening up each cell in your veggies or fruits, releasing more of the nutrients when the mass is pressed. It does all of this without heat and without oxidation, leaving a fresh, crisp-tasting juice every time.
I’m especially fond of the relatively quiet operation. They call it “baby safe”, which I assume they mean that it’s quiet enough to run when a baby is sleeping in the house. I don’t know that I’d call it that quiet, but it’s certainly quieter than my Vitamix blender, the vacuum, or my old juicer! They have the noise level listed as 60 decibels. According to Purdue University’s decibel chart, that’s about as loud as working in a normal office, conversing in a restaurant, or an AC unit about 100 feet away.
You can’t go wrong with dishwasher-safe parts, and the Aicok slow juicer has those, too. It seems like this company wanted to make juicing as simple and hassle-free as possible. They even include a generous 2-year warranty with an extra 1 year tacked on for good measure.
As always, we here at VibrantHappyHealthy.com want you to feel confident in our reviews and recommendations, so in addition to our own test kitchens, we’ve looked to other users to see what they think. All over the internet, this juicer has an impressive rating that proves how versatile and worthwhile it is.
A quick browse through any reviews on any sites will show the same kind of experiences we had. It’s quiet, easy to assemble and clean, and gets the juicing done on a budget. One reviewer even said this is the best cold press juicer because it works even better than a $600 “name brand” juicer!
- Sturdy, stable base
- Quiet operation and powerful motor
- Efficient juicing leaving a dry pulp
- Easy to set up
- Easy to clean
- Some users report “wet pulp”, though I did not experience this
- May be a bit slower than busy people will like
Overall Opinion: This is a great slow juicer with a simple design. It’s an efficient and one of the best cold press juicers with a neat, sleek look for your kitchen. Quiet operation and simple cleanup bring this slow juicer to the top of our list if you want to start juicing but have a smaller budget. It’s a great starter machine, but even experienced juice lovers will appreciate this simple design and friendly price.
2. Aobosi Slow Juicer | Quiet & Affordable
If noise is a worry in your household, the Aobosi Slow Juicer might be the right choice for your juicing needs. This one rates under 60 decibels, making it a pretty quiet juicer overall. It gets the juicing job done quickly, though the pulp is a bit wetter than some of the higher end machines produce. Even so, it’s an efficient slow juicer with a great price.
I like the reverse function on the Aobosi cold press juicer. Not every juicer will have this function, which I think is pretty silly. Even the best juicers on the market can get clogs, so a reverse function is an essential in my book. It makes it easy to maintain this juicer and even helps the cleaning process.
The auger spins at 80 RPM, which is a fairly standard speed for the best slow juicers right now. Older juicers went much faster, which caused more heat than we like to see in cold press juicers. At 80 RPM, you get a good masticating action without all the destructive heat.
Dishwasher-safe parts make this budget cold press juicer a snap to care for. I can’t stress this enough: if your juicer can’t go in the dishwasher, you’re wasting your time! Granted, if you don’t even have a dishwasher, this point doesn’t matter much to you. For me? I need ease and simplicity to help keep my life efficient! I do love the BPA-free parts. They’re easy to assemble and pull apart, and I know they’re the safest material to use.
Unlike many slow press juicers, this one actually comes with a 30-day trial period. That’s pretty cool; you can try it out and see if it fits your lifestyle. After that initial 30 days, you then receive a 2-year warranty, which is also pretty great. Not that you’ll need it. Customers so far have been delighted with the longevity of this product. It was built to last.
Whether you think it’s a pro or a con, the manufacturer is quite proud of the “small mouth”. They tout it as a safety feature, keeping your hands away from the moving parts inside. Personally, I’m on the fence about it. While safety features are always nice, I also have never stuck my hands inside a juicer when it’s moving. I feel like the small mouth they’re so proud of adds a little more prep time to my juicing experience because everything needs to be cut small enough to fit in the hole. However, if you have young kids, this feature might be perfect for you.
- Low cost and high efficiency
- Quiet operation and stable base
- BPA-free materials
- Easy clean and dishwasher-safe
- It can rattle a bit and shake during operation
- Small mouth means more prep time
Overall Opinion: With a ton of positive reviews and happy customers brimming with nice things to say about it, this cold press juicer gets pretty high marks. Don’t expect a lot of bells and whistles or fancy parts. It’s a pretty basic masticating juicer for a good price. This is a great option for newbies and more experienced juice fans looking for a simpler machine.
3. AMZCHEF Cold Press Juicer | Built-in Safety
Number three on our list of the best cold press juicers is the AMZCHEF slow masticating juicer, which comes equipped with unique intelligent protection chips. This feature helps your juicer stay in optimal running condition for longer by reducing wear. In short, it will shut the juicer off after 20 minutes of operation. This is important because many people leave their juicers running way too long, eventually damaging them.
Masticating juicers are extremely powerful, which means the motors can start to run hot if you use them too long. Without built-in safeguards, such as these intelligent protection chips, it’s pretty easy to destroy and otherwise hearty machine. It’s basically a really smart auto shut-off and cool down feature.
This slow juicer is easy to assemble, simple to operate, and easy to clean. These features make this particular cold press juicer very appealing because it also comes with a very low price tag. The manufacturer is quite proud of their small feeding chute, stating that it’s a safer model to use around small children. I mentioned earlier that this isn’t necessarily a selling point for me, but for juice fans who are juicing for young children, this is a good feature to have. A safer juicer with a small feed chute lets kids get in on the juicing action without risking their little fingers in the process.
For those of us who don’t need to worry about small children shoving their hands inside, it does mean a little extra work to cut ingredients small enough to fit into the chute.
This slow cold press juicer comes with a reverse function that works quite well. If you ever got a chunk of wheatgrass stuck in a juicer, you’ll understand why this is a great feature. Another feature that puts this juicer on our list is that all of the parts that touch your ingredients are made with anti-oxidation materials. That will help keep your juice fresh and drinkable for longer. This is important to mention because not all juicers on the lower end of the price scale can say the same thing.
While I did not run into any of these problems myself, some reviews mentioned not getting as much juice from this slow masticating juicer as you would from higher-priced models. They were quick to add that the juice did taste very good, so even if you do get less juice than a higher-priced juicer, I think tasty juice is a good trade-off. Since we’re on the topic, however, it is important to note that a lower cost juicer is not going to do as good of a job as a higher-priced one, generally speaking. Keeping that in mind, I was not disappointed with the juice yield.
I tried just straight celery juice the first go. Celery is notoriously difficult to juice properly. Surprisingly, I was very impressed that the pulp was so dry; I didn’t even need to run it through a second time. There was no juice left! My second try was my favorite combination, oranges and carrots. Again, I was left with a dry pulp and a nice glass of juice.
- Great price
- Good juice yield
- Easy setup
- Simple cleanup with a dishwasher
- Quiet operation
- Safety shutoff
- Safety shut-off may turn off too soon if you’re doing big batches
- Cool down time is too long
- No warranty information easily found
Overall Opinion: For a lower-priced cold press juicer, this is a pretty good option to try out juicing at home. The small mouth and auto shut-off features are handy for newbie juicers or people with small children. More experienced juice fans may prefer a juicer with more options, or they might like this as a simple escape from more complicated machines.
4. Aicok Juicer | Affordable Cold Press Juicer
The second Aicok offering on our list of the best cold press juicers comes in a little lower on the price scale than the first. Even so, you’re not missing out on the Aicok brand’s promise of quality just because the price is lower.
The motor runs lower than 60 decibels and at a lower RPM than many other models, making this slow juicer one of the most efficient quiet ones, too. That lower noise is always helpful in households with young children or in apartments with thin walls. You can get your juice fix nearly any time of day or night without waking everyone up in a five-block radius.
The dishwasher-safe parts help keep cleanup simple, and the assembly of this particular masticating juicer is really easy. A handy reverse setting makes sure your juicer never stays clogged, so even the toughest ingredients can go in without worry.
Just in case something goes wrong, Aicok gives you a generous 3-year warranty when you purchase this cold press juicer. I’m always pleased to see warranties on kitchen appliances—it shows me that the company stands behind their products and will stick around long after the sale is final. Aicok goes a step further and offers 24-hour customer service, too. That’s nearly unheard of for lower budget juicers!
Customers seem to love this cold press juicer, too. Reviews are through the roof with positive things to say, so you know this baby is going to get the job done without chewing through all your money in the process.
My biggest complaint is the low continuous operating time mentioned in the specs. They don’t want you to use this juicer for more than 10 minutes at a time. They also suggest waiting at least 10 minutes between uses. Reviews around the web confirm that this juicer can overheat when used for longer periods. If you’re making larger batches or processing tougher foods, you could very well go over the time limits and end up waiting for the machine to cool down. The best way around this is to stick with smaller batches.
- Great low price stays within more budgets
- Compact design fits in more kitchens
- Quiet operation
- Easy cleanup and assembly
- 3-year warranty and 24-hour customer service
- Short continuous operation limits
- Long cooldown times
Overall Opinion: This is a good choice for newbie juice lovers. It’s a low-cost way to start you on your juicing journey without losing quality in your finished juices. Low RPMs and quiet operation make this a family-friendly option, and the warranty means you won’t be stuck with a piece of junk if things go wrong.
5. Mueller Austria Vertical Juicer | Large Feed Chute
Can I just take a moment to say how much I love how this cold press juicer looks? While most of the best cold press juicers have the same basic horizontal design, sometimes you get one that manages to stand out visually as well as price-wise and performance. The Mueller Austria Vertical Juicer is the star of the show in that regard. It’s like a sci-fi alien ship on my counter or some mad-scientist’s device, and I just love that.
But how does this slow juicer score in performance? Top marks! First, the 3-inch chute is a behemoth compared to some other models. It can fit entire fruits and veggies in one solid piece right down its maw. That saves a ton of time on prep since you can just toss the ingredients in without all the fuss of cutting. They did include a smaller chute to make processing smaller ingredients easier, too, so that was a really nice touch.
The 60 RPM motor is nice and slow but still gets the job done quickly enough to prevent your juice from losing flavor and color. The motor is a bit louder than the others on this list, but I can deal with that since the juice is delicious and the design is so cool.
With a dryer pulp and less foam than other models, the Mueller Ultra juicer is an awesome choice for the lower budget shoppers without losing any of the quality we’d expect from a good cold press juicer on this list. To prove how great this product is, the manufacturer includes a 2-year warranty plus an additional 2 years when you register directly with them. For a low-price cold press juicer, a 4-year warranty is awesome.
Some vertical juicers are hard to put back together once you break them down for cleaning the first time. This is not one of those juicers. In fact, the assembly is incredibly easy, and the safety features won’t even allow it to start up if you don’t have things snapped into place just right. But don’t worry—everything is clearly marked and you can get this baby up and running in no time.
The biggest drawback I can see for this slow juicer is how tall it is. This monument to health and fitness isn’t going to fit well in a small kitchen or one with low-hanging upper cabinets. It needs a lot of head room, but it has a relatively compact footprint on the counter itself. If vertical space is an issue for you, this is not a good pick. If you don’t care about vertical space, this is a really cool juicer that looks neat and does a killer job.
- Unique design adds functionality and visual appeal
- Large feed chute can fit whole ingredients
- Easy assembly and safety features to ensure proper usage
- Great warranty
- Might be too tall for some kitchens
- A little louder than the others on the list
- Celery strings can get stuck if the celery stalks are not fresh
Overall Opinion: Maybe I just like space-age-looking stuff, but this affordable cold press juicer has a cool, futuristic, and modern design that’s lacking in other brands. A great warranty backs a good, solid slow juicer with the ability to chew up whole vegetables in the blink of an eye.
6. Aobosi Vertical Slow Juicer | 30-Day Trial
If you’re looking for a lightweight, more compact design in your juicer, without spending a whole year’s salary, this might be the juicer of your dreams. The Aobosi Vertical Juicer is another of the neat designs that gets the juicer off the horizontal plane and brings it up top. It leaves more counter space for your other appliances or your workspace, and that’s always a plus. And it comes in under eight pounds!
This is a quiet-running cold press juicer with a nice, fat, open chute for feeding in bigger pieces of vegetables and fruits. You might even be able to get some whole ingredients in there, which drastically reduces your juicing prep time. The very slow motor runs between 40 and 65 RPM for a nice balance between a quick glass of juice and a more nutritious one.
This is a dishwasher-safe model. I can’t stress enough how convenient that is on a busy morning. Bust out some juice, slap the juicer in the dishwasher, and zip out the door. When I get home, the juicer is clean and ready to make my dinner time juice with very little hassle. Quick assembly is a nice feature, too.
You get a generous 30-day in-home trial period with this vertical slow juicer. After the 30 days, you then get a generous 2-year warranty, too. These two offerings mean you can try this low-cost slow juicer risk-free to see if it fits in your kitchen and your lifestyle.
- Vertical design saves counter space
- Easy assembly and dishwasher-safe
- Nice 30-day trial period and 2-year warranty
- Compact and lightweight design can heat up quickly
Overall Opinion: This is one of the best cold press juicers for smaller kitchens, single people or couples, and those who won’t need to do long juicing sessions. It has a neat vertical design that will look nice in many types of kitchens, and it may even store nicely in larger cabinets. Good juice yield, nice warranty, and customer service is spot on.
Best High-End Cold Press Juicers
When we say high-end, we mean a juicer that has proven its worth, has a lot of extra features or a very unique design, and comes from a company with a long history of awesome craftsmanship and customer service. The adage “you get what you pay for” is true here, and since these are all top-dollar machines, you will be getting the absolute best of the best in cold press juicers.
1. Omega NC800HDS | Best Choice
One look at this juicer and know you’re looking at a work of art. But it’s a lot more functional than any painting or sculpture, I promise. The Omega NC800HDS is the Rolls-Royce of slow juicers. Built with premium parts, groundbreaking ingenuity, and backed by an Earth-shattering 15-year warranty, you cannot get much better than this when shopping for a top-tier cold press juicer.
Like many other slow juicers, this one’s motor runs at 80 RPMs for nearly zero heat production and top-notch juice and nutrient extraction. The difference is in the construction. These parts have been painstakingly crafted for maximum precision, efficiency, and extended life of the machine. This beauty is built to last, which makes the hefty price tag well worth it. You won’t be replacing this beautiful juicing rig anytime soon.
But there must be more than a killer motor, right? Absolutely. The Omega NC800HDS tops our list for the best cold press juicers for a long list of other features. There are so many to list I’ll need to bring out the bullet list for this one.
- The adjustable end cap provides the most comprehensive and personalized juicing experience with 5 pressure settings for the perfect glass of juice every time. Make changes on the fly with little downtime and no delays. It’s simply the best juice made to your specifications with one touch.
- Continuous and automatic pulp ejection keeps the juice flowing. You don’t need to stop and clear out clogs and gunk—just keep going!
- The auto pulp ejection also aids in cleaning, making cleanup a snap.
- The nutrition center adds unique and valuable functionality to this slow juicer. You can make baby food, create frozen treats, extrude fresh pasta, grind your own coffee beans, create spice mixes, mince herbs and other small leafy greens, make your own soy milk, and create delicious and healthy nut butters. It’s all in one cool-looking machine!
- It has a larger feed chute than other Omega juicers, which can help cut your prep time considerably.
- The built-in handle ensures your Omega juicer is moved safely and securely, giving your investment added protection.
- Dual-stage masticating action ensures perfect juice and nutrient extraction every time, without damaging the important enzymes that make juicing so healthy in the first place.
- The Omega NC800 not only handles leafy greens with ease, it actually has a 25% higher juice yield for them than the previous generation Omega juicers. Watch the video below to see a comparison of the NC800 and the previous generation Omega 8004.
Juice off: Omega NC800 vs. Omega 8004
While the Omega company has sold thousands of their juicers through their own site and with other retailers, tons of reviews all over the internet even on non-store sites agree with my assessment: this juicer is just awesome in every way. Of course, Omega has more than 35 years of experience making incredible juicers, so it’s not a shocker to learn that this particular slow juicer gets top marks from us.
With all the bells and whistles listed above, you’d think this slow juicer would be a monster on your counter, taking up every inch of available space. Surprisingly, it’s a pretty standard size! That means Omega was able to pack a great juicer and all the extras into the same space other companies fit just a plain, boring juicer. Hello, efficiency!
- Mind-blowing 15-year warranty backed by over 30 years of experience
- 25% higher juice yield for leafy greens than older Omega models
- Top-quality parts and craftsmanship create a juicer that will last longer than some relationships
- 80% wider feed chute than previous generation Omega Juicers
- Tons of extra features to make a huge variety of healthy foods for babies, kids, and adults
- Simple disassembly and cleaning
- It’s expensive
- Some users have experienced a little more noise than expected, but I did not experience this myself
Overall Opinion: If you’re serious about juicing and you don’t mind spending a pretty penny up front for the best quality slow juicer, this is the winner, hands down. You cannot go wrong with an Omega juicer, and this model is my top pick for high-end slow masticating juicers. The 15-year warranty guarantees you won’t need to buy a new juicer for a long time, making it cheaper in the long run.
2. Tribest Greenstar Elite | The Beast
The second cold press juicer on my list for high-end models is the Tribest Greenstar Elite. I am especially fond of the black one because it looks so sleek and unique on my counter. However, if you like a more traditional color, they do have stainless steel and they also have a white one. Aside from the color choices, you’re getting an incredible juicer with an impressive 12-year warranty.
This twin gear juicer has a handle on the top to help you move it around your kitchen or even take it with you if you need to go somewhere and don’t want to miss out on juicing. It’s a bit heavy to call portable, but at 17 pounds it can be moved around, and who doesn’t need a little weight training anyway? The handle makes it easy to move, even if you’re just switching counters.
Like the previous juicer in this list, this one has an automatic pulp ejection feature. That helps you keep juicing without having to stop and scrape the pulp or empty your container as often.
This cold press juicer comes with a powerful 200-watt motor to spin its jumbo twin gears. Along with your typical juicing features, including leafy greens and wheatgrass, this particular slow juicer can also grind nuts and grains.
While twin gears are pretty cool, I am a little concerned about the 110 RPM of this machine. As discussed earlier, it’s better to go slow with a cold press juicer. With too much speed you get a lot of heat and that he can destroy the enzymes in fresh fruits and vegetables. That said, even at 110 RPM, the Greenstar Elite juicer doesn’t seem to oxidize the juice too much. Clearly, they know what they’re doing.
I’m no juicer or scientist or engineer, but I really like how Greenstar describes their exclusive juicing technology. In short, they’ve added magnetic technology to this machine that they claim helps to extract more nutrition from the ingredients. Their claim is that it creates a magnetic field that helps rearrange water molecules that can latch onto vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients. All of that ends up in your juice.
What does all that fancy science talk mean? According to Greenstar, it should help stabilize the molecules in your juice, which will delay oxidation. In short, they claim that this will help your juice last longer so you can make bigger batches and store it longer. Whether this is true or not, I can’t say; it does sound cool though. Use your best judgment.
The pressure adjustment mechanism is pretty cool. I like to see features like this on these high-end cold press juicers because it helps you fine-tune your juicing experience. Not all fruits and veggies are created equal. Some will require more pressure during the juicing process in order to extract the most nutrients. When you’re able to increase the pressure, you can get more juice from tough ingredients without clogging the juicer. The adjustments on this juicer fit the bill nicely.
Another feature that I like to see in the high-end slow juicers is the ability to process other foods, and this one can do that, too. Of course, these aren’t standard food processors, but it is nice to be able to create nut butters, sauces, and sorbets without adding another appliance to your countertop.
Greenstar Elite Demonstration Video:
- Powerful motor won’t get stuck on tough ingredients
- Slightly higher juice yield than the Omega NC800
- Twin gears chew through veggies like real teeth
- Good juice yield and dry pulp mean more nutrients in each cup
- 12-year warranty
- Very pricey
- 110 RPM may produce too much heat and speed up oxidation
- More difficult to clean than single auger slow juicer
- Heavy body at 17 pounds
Overall Opinion: The Greenstar Elite is the best cold press juicer if you have a lot of extra money laying around. Is definitely a powerhouse, and it will juice anything that you throw at it. It also looks nice on your counter if visual appeal is important to you. There are some attachments you can buy in addition to the juicer itself, but even on its own this is a really great slow juicer.
3. Breville Juice Fountain Cold XL | Juices Fast!
I’m going to go a little off-plan with this next offering. The Breville Juice Fountain Cold XL isn’t exactly a cold press juicer, however it uses an interesting cold spin technology to create juice. I thought that technology was interesting enough and close enough to a cold press juicer that it earned a spot on this list of the best cold press juicers. Besides, it’s backed by the Breville name so you know it’s going to be good.
First, let’s look at the normal juicing features. This appliance comes with a nice 3.5-inch feed chute. You know how much I like cutting down on my prep time. This big mouth can accommodate some of the biggest ingredients without having to cut them into itty-bitty pieces. There’s a really quiet setting so you can reduce the noise of juicing by about 40%. That’s great for families with babies and small children or those that live in apartments. It’s also good for people who just don’t like noisy appliances but still like fresh juice.
There’s a fast setting which is convenient. That particular setting can extract up to 70 fluid ounces of juice around five times faster than a typical cold press juicer. I’ a big fan of the 70-ounce jug. It even seals up to let you store some fresh juices for up to 3 days.
So, what about this unique cold spin technology? How does that even work? Rather than slowly chewing through your ingredients like other slow masticating juicers, the Breville Juice Fountain Cold XL is more like a centrifugal juicer, but without the heat that comes in contact with your ingredients and extracted juice. Instead of coming out the side like a regular centrifugal juicer, this appliance pushes ingredients through a stainless-steel cutting disc, and then it pushes the juice through a mesh filter. Your juice spends a lot less time touching any heated parts and gets into the jug lot faster.
- Unique design isn’t quite a centrifugal juicer but not quite a cold press juicer either
- Fast juicing with low heat
- Extra large 3.5-inch feed chute
- Huge 70 oz juice jug
- Can make huge quantities quickly
- Stainless steel blades and mesh ensure long life
- Not a true cold press juicer
- The pulp tends to be wetter than a standard cold press juicer
Overall Opinion: This juicer is a good choice if you’re looking for a juicer that isn’t quite a cold press but not quite a centrifugal either. It’s a little bit of both, and it does a darn good job of making a lot of juice in a short amount of time. If you’re not too picky about wet pulp, this could be a great option for you.
4. Hurom HP Slow Juicer | Compact & Efficient
I feel like I would be disappointing our readers if I didn’t have at least one personal sized juicer in this list. Oftentimes, personal sized appliances of any kind do a less-than-stellar job. That’s not the case with the Hurom HP Slow Juicer. In addition to being incredibly cute, this tiny juicer does an impressive job making delicious, healthy, nutrient-dense juice.
Whether you need a tiny juicer for your tiny kitchen, a juicer you can take on vacation with you, or just like adorable things in your house, I think you’ll be really pleased with this device. As with all other slow juicers, the Hurom HP Slow Juicer uses of low speed auger to chew and squeeze the most juice out of your ingredients. Even though this device is mainly plastic, the company insists that its parts are eight times stronger than usual plastics used in these kinds of devices.
Hurom is so confident in the quality of this product, it comes with a 10-year warranty on the motor. However, they only offer a piddly 2-year warranty on the rest of the machine. Considering it’s just a personal juicer and not meant for huge batches, I think this is an acceptable trade-off.
As with most personal appliances, the Hurom HP Personal Juicer is going to run much quieter than a standard countertop model. The motor runs at 43 RPM, which might as well be whisper soft. And since we’re talking about size, it’s important to note that this is a small juicer with a small feed chute. That means you’re going to need to do a significant amount of prep work. But honestly, it’s not that hard to cut your fruits and veggies a little smaller to fit in the chute. You’re still getting a top-quality juicer, it’s just super tiny size.
- Compact and cute design will fit into modern kitchens
- Small enough to travel
- Powerful enough to juice just about anything
- Long warranty for the motor
- Easy and fast cleanup
- Short warranty on other parts
- Mostly plastic parts may make some users worry about the life of this product
- Screen seems to clog easier than countertop models
- Wetter pulp than standard-sized models
Overall Opinion: If you want a smaller option for your juicing needs or would like something cute and travel-worthy, this slow juicer is a good option. It’s just big enough for one person’s daily use and it comes with a nice warranty on the motor. You may not care for the plastic parts at first, but the ratings for this juicer are pretty high and other users seem quite happy with the longevity of this small cold press juicer.
5. Breville BJS700SIL | High-End Cold Press Juicer
You have to love Breville’s ingenuity in this vertical slow juicer. Most of the vertical juicers that I’ve seen come with a rather small feed chute. If you want a big, wide feed chute that can accommodate whole vegetables and fruits, you usually have to look for a standard horizontal juicer. But Breville managed to put a huge feed chute on this vertical cold press juicer and make it actually work! That alone earns this masticating juicer a spot on my top list.
But there’s much more about this slow juicer that you need to hear.
It’s probably pretty obvious by now that I really like the design of the vertical juicers like this Breville Big Squeeze Slow Juicer. This isn’t just about aesthetics though. I find them to be more convenient, more efficient, and easier to fit in my kitchen. First, going from top to bottom is more logical to me than top-feeding and the juice pouring out of the side. Then we have the distance the ingredients are traveling—the vertical juicers get the job done in less space than the horizontal ones. And what about head space? Honestly, my upper cabinets aren’t that high, so I feel like if I can fit this juicer on my counter, then the average home can too. Just to be sure, measure the space between your counter and the bottom of your upper cabinets. Remember that you will need to leave enough space for your hand and the length of your ingredients to get into the chute too.
Like all top-tier cold press juicers, this one comes with a forward and reverse button. Even though this juicer doesn’t typically get clogged, you never know when you’re going to get a particularly tough piece of celery or kale. The reverse function reduces your chances of clogging or completely stopping your juicing session.
The assembly of this juicer is exceptionally simple. There are some red indicators on the parts that help you quickly align each piece. It’s just as easy to take apart, too. That helps keep your cleanup responsibilities to a minimum. It’s even got a really cool self-rinse feature.
I like the smart cap feature of this slow juicer. It makes mixing your own special blends of juices a snap. The spout plug is great because I can mix my juice directly in the juicer. Being able to mix inside the juicer like this makes sure everything is homogenized and all the flavors mix.
And to top it all off, it comes with a nice 10-year warranty.
- Small footprint
- Big feed chute for adding whole vegetables and fruits
- Can handle leafy greens
- 10-year warranty
- Backed by the Breville name
- Some users have noticed the spout plug starts to leak after excessive use
- A few users found the cleaning process tricky
Overall Opinion: This is a nice-looking and efficient vertical slow juicer with a great 10-year warranty. High juice yields, fairly dry pulp, and a quiet motor make this a sure winner if you don’t mind dropping a significant amount of money.
Honestly, I think that you would be happy with any juice here on this list. A basic juicer from the budget list is going to give you the same high-quality juice that you’ll get from a top-tier product. The main differences between the two price points include the length of the warranty, juicing speeds, minor differences in juice yields, and additional features such as food processing abilities.
What it boils down to is choosing a slow juicer that fits your budget. You need to ask yourself if you really need all the bells and whistles or if all you’re interested in is juice. If you’d like to try your hand at making your own nut butters or grinding coffee or even making baby food, go for one of the top tier cold press juicers listed above. If you’re new to juicing and just want to try it out, try one of the budget options and see how you like it. When you’re ready to upgrade, then you can grab something from the top-tier list that’ll last you up to 15 years or more.
Finally, everyone wants to know if it’s worth it to pay the extra money for one of the top-tier options. To that I say absolutely! You really do get what you pay for. By choosing one of the more expensive slow masticating juicers, you’ll be getting a warranty on a fine machine that is going to last you many, many years. Some budget models may break down shortly after their warranties expire, meaning that you’ll just have to replace it. You might as well just spend the extra money up front and get a product that’s going to be guaranteed to work or warrantied for 10 or 15 years.
Why Should You Use a Cold Press Juicer? If you are concerned about oxidation in your fresh juice from the heat of the spinning blades of centrifugal juicers, then you should consider using a cold press juicer. The slower masticating action in a cold press juicer prevents oxidation and preserves the enzymes in fresh fruits and vegetables.
How Does a Cold Press Juicer Work? A cold press juicer grinds, cuts, and chews ingredients and then presses the juice out. Instead of using fast-spinning blades, these masticating cold press juicers slowly grind the ingredients without the heat associated with fast blades, which protects the delicate enzymes and heat-sensitive nutrients in fresh fruits and vegetables.
What Is the Best Cold Press Juicer for Leafy Greens? The Omega NC800HDS is the best cold press juicer for leafy greens. It has a powerful motor and strong masticating action that extracts the most nutrients from leafy greens without destroying important enzymes. It comes with a 15-year warranty and awesome customer support, too.
