Hi Joy,

I don't think anyone ever died of drinking fresh apple juice. I often juice whole apples and I'm still alive. According to Medical News Today, eating or juicing large quantities of apple seeds could be fatal. However, I have yet to meet someone who had negative side effects of consuming apple seeds.

Hi, I have been juicing whole apples for many years. Me and children drink 12 whole apples juiced in a juucer machine. So why are we still alive? Is cyanide poisoning in apples real? Has anyone ever died in drinking apple juice?

Hi Wade,
cooking apple seeds actually reduce the cyanide levels substantially. It shouldn't pose a health risk.

Hi Sterling, thanks for your input. You're right, it needs a whole lot of apple seeds to make it poisonous. :)

In reply to Maggie.

Hello! Thanks so much for reaching out to us. I think your apple juice should be just fine. Unless you have any pre-existing medical conditions, it's unlikely your juice will harm you. The main worry about apple seeds in juicing comes from juicing too many from a small number of apples. That is, if the seed to flesh ratio is too high it could become unhealthy. In your case, to get 22 ounces of apple juice, a significant number of apples would have been juiced. The larger number of apples means fewer seeds per ounce of juice than if just a single apple had been juiced. Granted, it's not possible to know exactly how many seeds made it into the juicer when you buy premade apple juice, which is why we always suggest juicing your own fruits and veggies whenever possible. All that said, I can't imagine that your juice would be unsafe for a healthy adult. Drink up!

I just bought 22 oz of juiced apple. I didn't know how dangerous the seeds were when ground up, but I only took a few small sips. Am I safe or should I see a doctor immediately?
